Worship Code

Recently, I was dancing and singing praises to God in my room assisted by my son who was playing the backup singer and drummer, it was so intense. i lifted up my hands and waved tirelessly as I chanted “glory and honor to you oh God”. I knelt, clapped, spoke in tongues and shouted God be praised a countless time until I felt I have indeed given God a quality praise.

Although I have worshiped, I wasn’t feeling it, I just gave a quality praise and what I expected to follow it was the dawning of the divine presence of God, but why was i not getting it?

So, I sat down to communicate directly with God, “my worship was not accepted right” why? I asked. Then He laughed, who told you your worship was not accepted?

“I just knew it because I wasn’t feeling your presence”, I said wanting to know badly where I had wronged.

O well, I just wanted to get your attention, God had said smiling down at me. You see, worship is not just limited to singing and dancing in the quite of your room. It is in the everyday trials and temptation you encounter in your journey through life. It is in declaring His greatness when others tries to undermine Him. It is in testifying of His goodness and mercy in your life to the world. It is in declaring that to men it may be impossible, but I know someone who makes all things possible.

As He said those words to me, I knew I was guilty because I hadn’t praised before men enough. Where I was supposed to declare His power and might I have often time not even talked about Him. I never knew talking about His everyday blessings in my life was one of the best ways of worshiping Him.

“Does it mean I have always been worshiping you the wrong way? I asked because this was the one way I’ve known to worship Him.

“No, there is nothing wrong in worshiping me in the quietness of your room, but there is actually nothing spectacular about this form of worship because every other thing I have created worship me in this manner. The trees, oceans, animals, air, star, moon, sun they all worship me, you might never noticed it but they often worship me.

Now I understand why David was called a man after Gods heart, he uses the worship code. He always talk about how great God was and how He delivered him from all his enemies, he was always ready to dance to God anywhere and anytime. Infact, he once declared that one of his favorite thing to do was when someone tells him they they should go to the house of God. He was also one man who was mocked for dancing inappropriately to God before his servants in the street to which God responded and made his mocker Michal barren for life.

God also refer to Job as a perfect man. He lost all he had including his children in one day and the first thing he did to the amazement of the people who had come to sympathize with him was to fall down on the ground and worship God saying “blessed be the name of the LORD.

Like David, I have come to say how patience God has been to me. countless times I have absconded from His camp, but His mercy always found and guided me back to His camp of grace. Sometimes I feel I am the most loved among all He has created.

What about you, how has God been there for you?
